Whichever one he brings back: Couple let dog decide gender of their firstborn [VIDEO]

A Texas couple went viral after allowing their dog to decide the gender of their firstborn kid during their In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) procedure.

Serena and Jacob Cukjati of San Antonio said in a Tiktok video that they had battled to pick between male and female embryos.

In a desperate attempt, they requested Charlie, their dog, to make the call for them.

“Okay, so we haven’t decided whether to transfer a girl or a male embryo initially. For those of you who are new, we have two girls and one boy,” Serena Cukjati, 35, said in the video.

According to the couple, they sought the advice of their doctor, who informed them that their “boy and one of our girls were pretty much the same.”

“So we decided we’re going to have Charlie pick our embryo essentially,” continued Cukjati, holding two tennis balls with “girl” and “boy” written on them.

“We wrote boy and girl on each of these balls and we’re going to throw them at the same time. Whichever one he brings back, that’s what we’re going to go with and it’s going to be final.”

Charlie is wearing a harness in the video, which has nearly 24,000 views, as Cukjati’s husband Jacob prepares to throw both balls into their backyard.

“Are you ready for your big day, Bubs?” Cukjati asks before releasing the dog.

Charlie then sprints towards the balls before coming to a halt and making his decision.

“Wait, he’s going back and forth,” exclaimed Jacob Cukjati, 31, as Charlie paced back and forth. “Which one will it be?”

According to the mother-to-be, the couple chose IVF after failing several times to conceive a child naturally.

“When we ended up in IVF, a lot of those surprises were taken from us as the process of IVF is much more about science than it is about chance,” Cukjati told The Post.

“We really wanted to find opportunities to add a little magic back into growing our family and we felt like including our dogs was the perfect idea since they are such a big part of our lives”

Despite the fact that the pair has yet to reveal the gender of the child, Cukjati stated that she and her husband are both “shocked” by Charlie’s choice.

“Jacob and I have always talked about our first baby being a certain gender, and let’s just say Charlie chose the opposite,” Cukjati continued. “We were overjoyed, and it’s been magical getting to visualise our July 25th transfer date and my upcoming pregnancy with not only a specific gender in mind, but also a specific embryo.”

“IVF can be such a joy thief at times. Many of us going through fertility treatments have had to significantly adjust our expectations of what growing a family looks like, so it’s incredibly special to find little moments of joy along the way,” the joyful mom ended.
