The Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships is a highly anticipated event on the UAE sporting calendar and a popular tournament stop for both the ATP World Tour and the WTA Tour. The competition is owned and organized by Dubai Duty-Free and held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The event comprises a WTA 1000 women’s tournament followed by an ATP 500 men’s tournament. This year marks the 31st year of the ATP tournament and the 23rd year of the WTA tournament. Roger Federer holds the tournament record with eight titles, while Novak Djokovic has won it five times. Other former World No.1 players such as Thomas Muster, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray have also claimed victory in the ATP 500 tournament.

The Aviation Club, which is part of the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, hosts the Dubai Tennis Championships. While both men and women participate in the competition, their tournaments take place during separate weeks and offer different prize money.

Novak Djokovic is the top seed for the men’s tournament and will be making his first appearance since winning his record-tying 22nd Major title at the Australian Open last month. The Serbian player is yet to lose a match this year and is aiming for his sixth Dubai Tennis Championships title.
