Boston Bruins veteran forward David Krejci got honored by teammates both past and present at TD Garden for reaching the 1000 National Hockey League games milestone with the team.
He became the 7th player in team history to reach the milestone joining players past and present like Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Don Sweeney, Ray Bourque, Wayne Cashman, and Johnny Bucyk.
Both the forward and his family took to the ice as they were showered with praises and gifts for his grand accomplishments. Originally, David reached the 1000th game milestone on January 16, but the team went full-on celebratory mode prior to their game with Ottawa Senators.
David Krejci honored by Boston Bruins at TD Garden
The veteran played 16 NHL seasons in Boston, following his 2004 Round 2 NHL pick. He signed a 1-year $1 million contract with the Bruins, carrying a cap hit of $1 million in the 2022-23 season. The forward recorded 44 points with 12 goals and 32 assists in 51 games played.
In his NHL career year, David Krejci scored 774 points in 1,013 games played [with 227 goals and 547 assists]. To honor the star veteran, a featured video was displayed, parading teammates past and present. His wife and two children joined him on ice as they were also gifted and honored alongside David.
Naomi, Krejci’s wife, and 2 children Elina and Everett joined on the ice as well. Naomi was gifted a necklace featuring her husband’s jersey number, 46, and the No. 1000. She was gifted the necklace on behalf of the Bruins’ wives and girlfriends.
Apart from his current teammates, captain Patrice Bergeron, and even retired teammates Tuukka Rask and Zdeno Chara legends Cam Neely and even Jaromir Jagr, sent heartfelt messages to Krejci. The forward was presented with an engraved silver stick to commemorate the milestone, presented by Bruins GM Don Sweeney.
On behalf of the National Hockey League, Bruins legend Johnny Buyck gave David Krejci a Tiffany crystal. He’s regarded to have the 3rd best offensive power and along with his on-ice skill, he’s undoubtedly one of the revered players both in his team and in the league.
