Robert Schimmel was an American comedian who had a net worth of $2 million. Born in The Bronx, New York, in 1950, Robert Schimmel served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, and began performing at various local comedy clubs. He was invited to appear on HBO's "Young Comedians Special" and soon after, attracted attention from Hollywood. Schimmel started writing for "In Living Color" and several other comedians, including Jimmie Walker. In 2010, he announced he was suffering from a condition called cirrhosis, which he contracted as a result of having hepatitis C. Schimmel was married twice, first to Vicki Schimmel in 1977; they had four children together, though their son, Derek, died of cancer as a child. He remarried and had two more children before his second wife, Melissa, filed for divorce in 2009. In the summer of 2010, Schimmel was involved in a car accident in Scottsdale when his teenage daughter was behind the wheel. He died from his injuries on September 3, 2010, and is buried in Scottsdale.
