Rainbow kiss: Why the term trended on TikTok
There are several ways to have fun with your partner. Being in your period should not stop you from having sex. One of the trending sexual acts on TikTok is called the rainbow kiss. Countless videos have popped up on the platform, showing people reacting to the explicit term.
They say one man’s meat is another man’s poison. While some people are intrigued by rainbow kiss, others find the concept disgusting. So, if you are the squeamish type, be warned that this article will leave you disgusted. However, if you are curious about this explicit act, read to find out more intriguing details.
What is rainbow kiss?
A rainbow kiss refers to a sex act in which a menstruating woman orally exchanges her period blood with her male partner’s semen. It is a fairly common sexual kink in which a woman takes her period blood in her mouth while her partner ejaculates and takes his semen. They both kiss, thus mixing these two bodily fluids to supposedly form a rainbow.
“The goal is to climax together and kiss after mixing menstrual blood from one partner with the semen from the other partner in their mouths during the kiss,” Dr Staci Tanouye, MD, a board-certified gynaecologist in Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America, explains.
There is no official source of where this act originated from. However, some cultures frown at women having sex during their periods. However, it does not mean that some women do not engage in sex during their periods. While some people are turned off by the idea of orally taking bodily fluids, others find that the act fosters the bond between them and their partners.
Carolanne Marcantonio, LMSW, an AASECT-certified sex therapist and co-founder of Wise Sex Therapy Associates, says: “Playing with blood bonds people because of the trust it takes to engage in such an act.”
Others try Rainbow Kiss simply because they are adventurous and would like to explore new things about sex. However, it is important to note that rainbow kiss comes with some health risks. Exchanging bodily fluids may increase the chances of infection transmission risks associated with unprotected sex such as HIV, hepatitis, gonorrhoea, herpes, syphilis and chlamydia. This is why it is important to perform the explicit act with a partner that you trust or who has recently undergone STD/STI testing.
