Police encourage public to continue searching for 3-year-old Elijah Vue
TWO RIVERS (WLUK) -- Wisconsin police are encouraging the public to continue to search for missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue.
An Amber Alert for the boy has been active since Feb. 20. He was last seen at the Mishicot Road apartment of Jesse Vang. Prosecutors say the boy's mother, Katrina Baur, sent her son to stay with Vang for "disciplinary reasons." Both have been charged with child neglect and are due back in court next week.
On Friday, Two Rivers police said their search efforts this week focused on wetlands and rural areas, the West Twin River and a farm waste container.
Police also said they followed up on numerous tips and leads and, with the help of state and federal authorities, are looking through large amounts of video submitted. Police have asked the public to check surveillance cameras for video of a beige Nissan Altima that may be connected to the case.
Police are asking the public to keep safety in mind during searches. Anything found that may be related to the case should be reported by calling 1-844-267-6648 or through Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers online.
Rewards totaling $40,000 are being offered in the case.
Elijah Vue is described as having dark blond hair and brown eyes. He is about three feet tall, weighs about 45 pounds and has a birthmark on his left knee.
A vigil for the boy is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Walsh Field, 2201 Polk St., in Two Rivers.
"Our thoughts will be with Elijah's family and those attending the vigil," police wrote. "Our search efforts will continue this weekend as we follow up on tips and leads."
