“I have my fans, family, and team, but I don’t feel loved, especially by the media and the so-called gatekeepers,” Omah Lay confessed. “This is something I’ve never talked about before. I’m the kind of artist who lives in a fantasy world. I spend 90 percent of my time in my head.”
The Afrobeats star also discussed the unique challenges he faces as a Nigerian artist, particularly when traveling. He spoke about how his Nigerian passport often subjects him to poor treatment from immigration officers until they recognize who he is.
“Traveling as a Nigerian with a Nigerian passport, I’ve seen so much cruelty. Immigration officers tend to mistreat me when they see my passport, but once they realize I’m Omah Lay, their behavior changes,” he added.
