Paulo Costa is a former middleweight title challenger, he faced the middleweight king Israel Adesanya at UFC 253 in September 2020, but the fight went pretty one-sided and Adesanya knocked him out in the second round.

Fans have been waiting for Costa’s return for a long time, and he’s been booked to face two different opponents ever since Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier, but he has pulled from both of these fights.

Now he has shown interest in facing another title challenger, Marvin Vettori. These two also exchanged some words on social media, Brett Okamoto talked to Costa’s manager and reported that they are pushing for the fight against Vettori.

“Asked MMA manager Wallid Ismail for an update on Paulo Costa,” Okamoto tweeted. “He said the fight he wants to make and is pushing UFC for is Marvin Vettori. Both talk trash, fun matchup. Wallid is trying to make it from his end.”

Dana White slammed Paulo Costa for pulling out from the fight and asking for more money, says he’s in no position to negotiate

Costa was supposed to face Cannonier but he pulled out from this one because he thought he wasn’t getting fairly compensated for the fight, he wanted more money but the boss Dana White slammed him for his actions and said that Costa deserves nothing.

White said, “You just came off a ridiculous, horrible performance! Comeback, and put yourself in a position to do something big. I don’t think that’s true; I think he did sign because we extended him, we extended his contract for taking the fight. But listen, don’t fight!”

Dana added, “I have to offer you three fights a year. This is my situation with all these guys, I offer you three fights a year. He doesn’t have to fight, no problem, don’t fight.”

“You signed a contract, you’re under contract, if that’s the way you feel, you know what I say all the time, we have fights every weekend. If you want to be busy, you can fight every weekend if you want to. Get out of your contract, and go do whatever you want to do.”
