Boise State University Police cites broken water main as cause of flood
BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — Boise State University Police Officer Shane Johnson cited a broken water main as the cause of Saturday morning's flooding incident at Sawtooth Hall.
Johnson stated that the water main malfunctioned and poured water into room 305, later causing the rooms below it to be affected.
Around a hundred students have been displaced by the flooding, according to Johnson.
A second Bronco Alert system message was sent out around 1 PM Saturday giving an all clear for students to return to unaffected parts of Sawtooth Hall.
But, they added that students living on the west side of the building on floors 1-3 will require temporary lodging.
The Bronco Alert system at Boise State University sent a message out Saturday morning, alerting students that a student residence hall had flooded and had been evacuated.
Sawtooth Hall was the building affected, according to the alert, specifically rooms 102-125, 202-225, 302-325.
The alert specified that Sawtooth Hall residents, possibly returning from Thanksgiving Break, should consider delaying their trip a day, due to the flooding.
Should students in the effected areas already be on their way, school officials advise that they go to the reception center set up in the lobby, where assistance will be given for temporary room reassignments, if necessary.
