Ada County Prosecutors say the father of two children featured in a Amber Alert last month tried to booby trap is home after he allegedly took his daughters and left the state.

Authorities say Joshua Dundon took his two young daughters and took them to Nevada and then set his vehicle on fire near a ranch in Eureka. He then, officials say, left his daughters and went looking for help.

"He’s a danger to himself, he’s a danger to his children, and he’s also a very serious danger to the community at large,” prosecutors said.

Prosecutors also said Dundon was under the influence of meth, and as a result, fled in paranoia thinking the government was going to kill him. He took his kids, nailed all of the closets and doors in the house shut, and it appeared that he booby trapped the house as there was gas being leaked into the house, prosecutors say.

The defendant told his brother he would “blast a cop if he saw one” and a co-worker said they saw him starting to carrying a gun, prosecutors said in court.

Also on Friday, a judge denied a $10,000 bail request for Joshua Dundon, who's charged withtwo felony counts of custodial interference.
