Ben Stiller says 'every White Jewish guy wishes he was Black' on virtual Harris fundraiser
WASHINGTON (TND) — Actor Ben Stiller on Monday made a head-turning remark during a livestream supporting Vice President Kamala Harris.
The event, titled Comics for Kamala, brought together comedians to raise money for the Harris campaign. Also participating were Nick Offerman, Whoopi Goldberg and Patton Oswalt, among others.
Stiller during his appearance vowed to donate $150,000 to the campaign. He also shared his excitement about the upcoming election and lauded Harris for her “historic” candidacy.
“She's also a historic candidate,” Stiller said. “It's going to be the first woman president and that's incredibly exciting. She's Indian, she's Black, she's everything. You can be more than one thing, it's incredible.”
Continuing, Stiller addressed his own heritage, but noted being somewhat dissatisfied.
You know, I'm Jewish and Irish,” Stiller said. “I wish I was Black. Every White Jewish guy wishes he was Black. You know, get out there and vote and donate and take advantage.”The comment drew laughter from host Paul Mercurio.
“Thanks, Ben,” Mercurio said. “Really well put.”
Clips of the remark earned millions of combined views via X Tuesday.
