Anthony Senerchia, Man Behind The Ice Bucket Challenge Dies At 46
Anthony Senerchia, the man behind the infamous ice bucket challenge is dead. People reports that he died last Saturday at the age of 46.
His death is an end to a fourteen years battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Senerchia was diagnosed with ALS in 2003 and was told he had just a few years to live according to one of his obituaries.
“He worked tirelessly to raise awareness for ALS and was directly responsible for the world-renowned Ice bucket challenge,” his obituary said, calling him “a fireball who tried everything in life.”
“It’s a difficult disease and tough when you’re losing,” his wife, Jeanette, told the Journal News Media Group. “Your body is failing you. But he was a fighter… He was our light. He made our life better.”
