45-year-old man admits role in Emmett church fire

EMMETT, Idaho (KBOI) - The Gem County Prosecutor's Office says a man suspected in the Emmett church fires from earlier this year has changed his plea.

Richard Linville, Gem County prosecutor, said Monday that William Dorahush, Jr., 45, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit first degree arson and one count of first degree arson. In exchange for the guilty plea, burglary and grand theft charges were dropped.

In April, firefighters were called out to the Community Bible and First Baptist churches. Significant damage was reported at both churches. The FBI assisted in the investigation.

Dorahush was convicted of burglary and arson in 1992 in Madison County and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Prosecutors will recommend 25 years in prison, which is the maximum sentence. He's scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 9.
