Bruce Broussard went from a compensation package of $10.3 million in 2015 to a whopping $19.7 million in 2016. His base salary for 2016 was $1.24 million but Humana gave him a boatload of extras on top of his salary. These include personal use of the business aircraft, retirement, life insurance and so forth.
6. A family emergency turned Bruce into a caregiver
It’s no small wonder that Bruce Broussard has such a heart for the plight of the people in need of special healthcare assistance. It wasn’t that long ago that he found out first hand how quickly life can change when an emergency situation occurs. His wife had symptoms of the flu but within 24 hours, she was in the emergency room of the hospital battling a potentially life-threatening illness. Bruce found how difficult it can be to juggle 2 pre-adolescent children, a home, a demanding job and still be there for a very ill spouse. He had the help of his sister-in-law, but it was still a hard experience to endure. Thankfully, his wife made a full recovery quickly.

Texas A&M honored Bruce Broussard in 1984 for the significant contributions he’s made as a philanthropist. He was recognized for his passion to improve the workplace, the economy, and the environment.
